Hey there – Mary here! An Actor-Musician from Manchester and also a live workshop presenter for The Lily-Jo Project.

Spring is certainly in the air – and I don’t know about you, but I am loving the warmer weather, longer days, and blooming flowers!

A big part of springtime for me is updating my playlists to fit the “vibe”. So without further ado, here are a few feel-good songs for spring that keep me smiling, bopping, and feeling great!

10 Feel-Good Songs for Spring

#10. “You’ve Got the Love” – Florence & The Machine

What’s not to love about “You’ve Got the Love” by Florence & The Machine? Upbeat tempo, incredible vocals, and a heartfelt message about love, friendship, and being there for each other.

Lyrics we love:

Sometimes it seems that the going is just too rough

And things go wrong no matter what I do

Now and then it seems that life is just too much

But you’ve got the love I need to see me through

#9. “Call the Shots” – Girls Aloud

Such a catchy song that belongs on any spring playlist! “Call the Shots” by Girls Aloud is perfect for sunny mornings, road trips, and picnics with mates in the park.

Lyrics we love:

Out of the fire that burns inside me

A phoenix is rising

#8. “Music Sounds Better With You” – Stardust

I just love this dance track, “Music Sounds Better With You” by Stardust. The essence of the song is so true – music really does sound better when we’re with people we love.

Lyrics we love:

I feel so good

I feel right

Music sounds better with you

#7. “Music for a Sushi Restaurant” – Harry Styles

The latest Harry Styles album has been such a pleasure to listen to since its release in Spring 2022. One year later, I’m still listening to “Music for a Sushi Restaurant” – it’s just so fun and quirky!

Lyrics we love:

Music for a sushi restaurant

Music for whatever you want

Scuba-duba-do-boo-boo

#6. “Wonder” – Naughty Boy feat. Emeli Sande

“Wonder” by Naughty Boy feat. Emeli Sande is so uplifting and motivational. Spring can sometimes be a stressful season, especially for students who are preparing for exams. This song reminds us that we’re capable of achieving great things – even when the world feels like it’s on our shoulders.

Lyrics we love:

Though our feet might ache, the world’s upon our shoulders

No way we goin’ break, ’cause we are full of wonder

Whoa, oh we ain’t falling under

Whoa, oh we are full of wonder

#5. “Have a Nice Day” – Stereophonics

Released in 2001, “Have a Nice Day” by Stereophonics is a mellow, happy tune that’s likely to feel nostalgic if you grew up listening to it – perfect for fireside chats with pals.

Lyrics we love:

So have a nice day

Have a nice day

Have a nice day

Have a nice day

#4. “Strangers Like Me” – Phil Collins

Another childhood classic is “Strangers Like Me” by Phil Collins, which was part of the Tarzan soundtrack from Disney. I just love this song’s messaging surrounding learning, exploration, and seeking new horizons.

Lyrics we love:

Ooh, these emotions I never knew

Of some other world far beyond this place

Beyond the trees, above the clouds

Oh, I see before me a new horizon

#3. “Wide Awake” – Katy Perry

For many, Spring feels like a period of change and transition. That’s why I love pairing this season with Katy Perry’s ballad “Wide Awake” – it’s all about dealing with our emotions, embracing change, and moving forward.

Lyrics we love:

Seeing the bright side (I’m wide awake)

I’m not blind anymore

I’m wide awake

#2. “Higher Power” – Coldplay

Coldplay has been a favourite band of mine for years and “Higher Power” in particular is upbeat, catchy, and just all-around joyful like springtime.

Lyrics we love:

‘Cause you’ve got a higher power

Got me singing every second, dancing every hour

Oh yeah, you’ve got a higher power

And you’re really someone I wanna know

#1. “Walking on a Dream” – Empire of the Sun

And in my number one spot…. “Walking on a Dream” by Empire of the Sun. There’s just something about this song that makes me feel happy and ready to fully embrace the spring/summer season!

Lyrics we love:

On and on and on we are calling out, out again

Never looking down, I’m just in awe of what’s in front of me

That’s a Wrap! What We’ve Learned

  1. So much joy can be found in simple friendships and catchy tunes!
  2. There is freedom and happiness to be found when embracing your silly/quirky side.
  3. New horizons can be scary. But – they’re also exciting opportunities for personal growth.
